A Novel Circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna with Branch-Line Coupler and Log-Periodic Balun
Authors
Abstract:
A new shaped circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna (CP DRA) is studied with branch-line coupler and log-periodic balun for the GPS application. Since the coupler and balun are located under the DRA, it does not increase the footprint of the antenna, as a result the system is very compact. Two configurations are considered in this paper. In the first configuration, an external 50Ω load is used for the matching port of the branch-line coupler. For the second one, a three-resonator log-periodic balun is used instead of branch-line coupler, thus, no lumped elements are required in this configuration. Moreover, two modes HEM11δ of the cylindrical DRA are utilized to design the wide band circular polarization. The reflection coefficient, axial ratio, antenna gain, and radiation pattern are studied for each configuration. These first and the second configurations offer an impedance bandwidth (S11

A broad 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) is achieved by combining multiple orthogonal modes due to the use of a special-shaped dielectric resonator. The proposed antenna is fabricated to evaluate its actual performance capabilities. The antenna exhibits a measured 3 dB ARB...
full textCircularly Polarized Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna for EMI Measurements
Two types of broad-band antennas are widely used for electromagnetic interference (EMI) measurements in the frequency range from 30 to 1000 MHz. Log-periodic dipole antennas (LPDA) are mainly used for the range above 300 MHz and biconical antennas for the range less than 300 MHz. These two antennas have linear polarization. However, EMI measurements can sometimes be more conveniently made with ...

This paper presents a design of circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) array. The dielectric resonators (DRs) were excited by rectangular aperture coupling slots feed with a linear microstrip. The slot positions were determined based on the characteristic of standing wave ratio over a short ended microstrip to deliver the maximum amount of coupling power to the DRs, in order to...

This Log Periodic DRA is simulated using a CST microwave studio suite 2010. The simulated results show wider impedanc...
full textA Wideband Circularly Polarized Antenna with a Multiple-Circular-Sector Dielectric Resonator
This paper presents the design of a wideband circularly polarized antenna using a multiple-circular-sector dielectric resonator (DR). The DR is composed of twelve circular-sector DRs with identical central angles of 30 ∘ but with different radii. A genetic algorithm is utilized to optimize the radii of the twelve circular-sector DRs to realize wideband circular polarization. The proposed antenn...
